Adding DFF to OTBI Subject Areas

Pre-Requisites:

1.     Access to Subject Area

2.     Access to Setup and Maintenance

3.     Access to Scheduled Processes window

Process:

1.     Create a simple OTBI Report with required subject Area.

2.     Get the DFF Flexfield code

3.     Enable "BI Enabled" checkbox for the DFF using the "Manage Descriptive Flexfields " Task

4.     Deploy the DFFs

5.     Run ESS job "Import Oracle Fusion Data Extensions for Transactional Business Intelligence".

6.     Verify the Results

 

Example: Adding DFF present on Customer Account Site to Receivables - Customer Real Time subject Area

Step 1: Create a simple OTBI Report with required subject Area

Search with DFF and confirm it is not already available 

 

Step 2: Get the DFF Flexfield code

Navigate to Customer Account Site page, to identify the DFF Flex-field Code select Highlight flexfields option from User drop down

  

 

Click on Configure Descriptive Flexfield icon highlighted under Account site. It will navigate directly to the Manage descriptive Flexfields page

Or

Click on the info icon as shown below and copy the Flexfield code

Step 3: Enable "BI Enabled" Checkfor the DFF using the "Manage Descriptive Flexfields " Task

Navigate to Manage Descriptive Flexfields page and search with copied Flexfield code in Step 2 and click on Edit

 

 

Select the DFF you want to add to OTBI Subject Area and click on edit


Enable the BI Enabled Checkbox and save the changes

  

Step 4: Deploy the DFFs

Click on Deploy Flexfield

 

 

You will see message like "Deployment completed successfully. Start a new session of the runtime application to view changes." click ok.

 

Step 5: Run ESS job "Import Oracle Fusion Data Extensions for Transactional Business Intelligence".

Note: Running this ESS job will disconnect all users from the server. Do not run this job when maintenance operations or system updates are being performed on the server.

 

 

If the process ends in Warning or Error state.

Search with the word error in the log file, and deploy the Flexfield which caused the error

(In the below screenshot error is caused due to RA_CUSTOMER_TRX)

  

Step 6: Verify the Results

Once the process is successful, check the Subject Area if it has the DFF Attribute.


 

Common Errors:

1.     FUSION.FND_SESSION_MGMT

As Running the ESS job will disconnect all users from the server, Log out and login to resolve this issue.
