Service-Oriented Architecture
One of the primary highlights of
Fusion is that it uses a service-oriented architecture (SOA), which takes on a
newer, much smoother approach in contrast to the forms and database-centric
approach of the Oracle application architecture in EBS.
Significantly
Lower TCO
Unlike on-premise, Cloud is a platform
where the Customer need not buy any Oracle product or install any software
locally which would make it very expensive considering the hardware cost,
manpower cost, maintenance cost, etc. So Oracle is offering most of its Fusion
Middleware products and Fusion Applications in Cloud where Oracle is hosting
all hardware and software. Oracle is also responsible for its maintenance etc.
making it cheaper for the customers. Customers have to pay subscription fees
for the services it needs and access them using a thin-client like a browser.
Faster Time To
Value
Oracle ERP Cloud enables the
organization to implement new functionality quickly and at a lower cost than
Oracle EBS.
Easy
Accessibility
Oracle ERP Cloud can be accessed
via the internet anywhere, anytime and works on any mobile device – including
your laptop, phone, and tablet.
Continuous Automatic Upgrades
Oracle ERP Cloud gets continuous,
automatic software updates whereas upgrading Oracle EBS requires significant
time and effort from the IT team.
Scalability And
Integration
Oracle ERP Cloud is engineered to
enable a wide range of application integrations and provides this capability in
a reliable architecture. Oracle ERP Cloud supports complex integrations as well
as bulk data movement. This process isn’t so simple in Oracle EBS and needs
extensive support from the IT team to design and build the integrations.
Improved User
Interface
Oracle ERP Cloud features a
complete redesign which makes the applications more streamlined and user
friendly. Cutting edge web technologies result in a simple, intuitive
experience that makes it quicker and easier to perform most back office
functions. On-premises Oracle EBS doesn’t include the revamped UI and feels
outdated in comparison.
Smoother
Workflow & Reporting
While Oracle EBS uses a PL/SQL
procedural language, Fusion uses Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)
which assures a smoother, more seamless workflow. Reports are also generated
using PL/SQL in EBS whereas Fusion uses BI Publisher and XML formats for
reporting.
Multiple Options
in Financial Reporting
While Oracle EBS restricts the
extent of financial reporting with Financial Statement Generator, Fusion offers
a wide range of options with Hyperion Financials Reporting Studio, Oracle
Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI).
